Insecure Writer's Support Group Post Day and IWSG Critique Circle

It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. I encourage everyone to visit at least a dozen new blogs and leave a comment. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs.

The awesome co-hosts today are Gwen Gardner, Dolorah, Sarah Foster, and M. Pax!

One of the advantages of belonging to a group like this is the connections. You have a common ground with other authors and can easily find those who write in your genre.

If you are looking for a critique partner, cruise through the IWSG list and visit members’ blogs. (We also have the IWSG Facebook Group with over two thousand members.)

In addition, we paired with another group and started the IWSG Critique Circle. This group is dedicated to matching people up with the best critique partners possible. If you’re looking for partners or will be in the near future, please join this Facebook group as well.

    I've been on the cusp of looking, have a beta/critiquer for small projects. But soon, I'll be on the hunt for an honest, hard-nosed reader (or 6) to help flush out the first novel.

    I have a group of fantastic critique partners and beta readers. I met my number 1 through an online role-playing group and number 2 came from a critique partner search like you're doing. Excellent match!

    ACFW American Christian Fiction Writers has a critique group on line. They train everyone before allowing them on the loopl

    I found a critique group online with some bloggers I frequently interact with. Its nice to have authors you respect offer feedback on my writing.

    I know I should probably seek out some critique partners, but I want to make a few changes to my manuscript first. I will definitely look into the Critique Circle, though!

    It's great to know about the critique circle. When it comes time, I'll want someone who writes in my genre to look it over this time, as well as my writing buddies.

    I didn't know there was a critique group on Facebook. I just joined the IWSGCC today. I've also been a member for a few years at the online writer's workshop called Critique Circle.com. I think the more critique circles, the merrier. :)

    Have a question: I've published my post, yet I haven't seen it on this page. In fact, I haven't seen any of the pings for this week here. Then I went to the signup page. There it says to link to that page. So I changed the link I have to your site in my post. Was this the right thing to do?

    I can't believe it's already February. I'm so far from getting organized. Then I screwed with my post and none of my comments this morning stayed, and well, it's silly worrying about unimportant things. I feel so grateful to have IWSG. Thank you for listening to me whine.

    Wow, I didn't know IWSG had a critique circle. After taxes are done, I might check it out because I doubt I'll be able to get my SCBWI group back together after such a long break. I found my first online partner in Rachel Harrie's Platform Building Campaign: Ken Rahmoeller. Then I posted a new group opening with SCBWI. It took over 9 months to get the first reply. But we had 3 more people within 3 more months. If not for me moving, we'd still be meeting.

    Brilliant idea forming a critique group - it's an essential part of the writing process and yet so difficult to stumble across the right partner. I just have to sort out a facebook page first...

    What a perfect place to find crit partners.I am very fortunate to have cp's right in my home town. I would not be a published author without them. So important to let "fresh eyes" see your ms and offer feedback.
