Insecure Writer's Support Group and Anthology Contest!

It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. I encourage everyone to visit at least a dozen new blogs and leave a comment. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs.

Our awesome co-hosts today are TB Markinson, Tamara Narayan, Shannon Lawrence, Stephanie Faris, and Eva E. Solar!

Don’t forget the IWSG Anthology Contest is open until November 1! The theme is Alternate History/Parallel Universe and any member of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group is encouraged to enter – blogging (must post for the IWSG at least once in September or October) or Facebook member (must be a member as of today.)
Winners will be published in a royalty-paying anthology next year.

So, what are you waiting for? Enter your short story today!

  2. Really looking forward to reading the Anthology. Wish I could have come up with something within the theme to submit myself but those just aren't my genres :(

  3. As much as I'd love to submit, I'm chasing a open submission window for my long suffering novel, so I need to buckle down and commit to a proper edit/rewrite there. Best of luck to all involved, though!

  4. Submitted away last night at our bay. Figured what the heck as the story came on deck.

  6. It felt weird that IWSG arrived on the 7th. Seems like it should always be the first day of the month. Good way to begin a new month. Happy IWSG, IWSGers.

  7. My story is going through the edit stage. I'm thrilled to submit, it was a story that came to me in a dream and I had to go for it.

  8. This is excellent advice for me as I begin the final editing stage of my next novel. Thanks, Alex. Also, thank you for continuing the IWSG as a touchstone to writers like me who "hole up" for long stretches of time.

  9. Jolene:

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I so wanted to do this anthology. But the story I've penned for it has grown into something else. Oh my....

    Hugs and chocolate,

  11. Well, I made it through surgery, and I'm feeling a lot better now that I don't throw up everything I eat. However, I'm chickening out on the short story because I've lost 6 months being sick. At least I wrote some short stories on my blog this year.

  12. Not sure if I will or not...I feel like it would shine a spotlight on my already bad insecurities. haha

  13. Still working on my story to submit... I LOVE the first paragraph, but need to figure out how to move along now. It will come... I know it will. Hopefully before deadline.

  14. Alternate History/Parallel Universe... mmm, I'd love to write a story in this genre... to stretch the writing muscles...

  15. It's going to be a very exciting anthology. I'd love to participate, but I'm in a major transition and in need of time to take care of things here on the home front. I'll offer any support I can, and, of course I'm a reader out here waiting.

  16. I am so hoping to be able to have something ready! But this month is INSANE with the loft renovation and MOVING AGAIN next month... Time is just flying by... What happened to this year?

  17. Alex, I wanted to. But I haven't joined yet due to things with Christopher. I decided that I will join AFTER everyone has sent in their entries for the anthology. It's not right for me to join and immediately send in a story. I want those who have been members to have a chance to be picked for the anthology.

    Good luck everyone. :-)

  18. I've written it, but it's way over the word limit. So I have some serious trimming to do!

  19. I am working on it. Way out of my genre but I love a challenge:) Where do we send the submission?
