IWSG Post Day - A Question and a Challenge!

It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. I encourage everyone to visit at least a dozen new blogs and leave a comment. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs.

The co-hosts today are CD Coffelt, Tina Downey, Isis Rushdan, and Michelle Wallace! Please be sure to thank them for their time and effort to make all IWSG members feel welcome.

Those of you who participate in the monthly posting for the IWSG know it’s a special day. We share our fears and concerns. We offer encouragement to others. We receive support from our fellow writers.

I have a question and a challenge for you today!

Is there a particular post of yours that garnered the support and encouragement you desperately needed? Or a specific issue that IWSG members helped you with? Or a comment that changed everything for you?

And the challenge – can you invite just one other writer to join the IWSG? Or suggest they follow this site or our Facebook page? Can you help us double our numbers by the beginning of next year?

You guys are awesome!

i'm one the first commenters? shut the front door! hahaha...
spreading the word on FB for sure! there are way too many good comments to narrow it for me. i hope to seek some good inspiration today though!!

I am continually amazed by the comments left and support out there. Like Tammy thinking of just one would be hard. One of my most viewed posts was an IWSG post back in the summer. Always happy to help spread the word.

I find that it's not even the specific comments that help me sometimes. It's the knowledge that there are other writers out there who have experienced the same things I have and who are willing to share their wisdom. Will definitely spread the word as much as I can.

Hi Alex,
Good to hear from you again, I just posted my installment for the month today early morning and found that the date showing at the top of the post is not wednesday but its showing 5th Tuesday so i just marked it as draft. It is may be because of our time zones, I think that won't manke any difference right. so I am pressing the Pblish button now. LOL
Hi Tina, glad to see you in the co-host's list. Keep Going. Alex and Team.
Best Regards
Phil

I can't think of one particular insecure post that I received encouragement from but I can think of every single time I've thought my work sucked and that I had no business even considering this writing life someone posts on my blog and tells me I rock.

Seriously. This group is amazing. It's usually random, something unsolicited, but it always comes when I need it. Funny how that happens. It's scary to put yourself out there, scary to air your insecurities and send your word-babies out into the world. But every single time I do, someone comes back with the encouragement I need to keep going, to keep writing one more word.

No one post comes to mind right now, but I'm actually a bit surprised how I ever managed before IWSG. I'm shouting out to everyone I know.

The post that I received the most support on my blog was my very first IWSG post two months ago. I was amazed at how nice and generous everyone was.

The link is here: http://writewithfey.blogspot.com/2013/09/i-am-insecure-writer.html

Today is my third IWSG Wednesday, and I have to say that this group is amazing. You created something fabulous, Alex!

It's hard to point to just one comment, but in general, IWSG has done two amazing things for me: 1) it's so helpful to hear "ME TOO!" from other writers, and to know I'm not alone in my fears and hopes, and 2) I'm growing a following AND getting read other amazing blogs. Both of which are great.

This month so many people have posted beautiful, inspiring things, and that's amazing, too.

Yes Alex, I felt the support I have been given each first Wednesday of several months helped me write my silly little short story for Halloween. All I could think about when re reading was 'wow, this is so much fun and this is what the group encourages along with just write'. I also have a blog over on WP, and I have posted on my blog there links to the FB page and this website. I am hoping that it helped, and don't mind to repost every three months or so. I need to think about that question, but I find that writers rally around to offer great advice and well-needed support without hesitating. Glad you started the group and put up this site.

just knowing it is here, especially through my Mom's passing last summer, makes all the difference. Off to G+ this and invite more peeps now. Thanks again!

I have found posts among the group that have really helped me with particular questions. I'm working on getting some of the local writers I know to join.

I've received an amazing amount of support every single time I've posted and have found so many excellent blogs and bloggers. I think everyone I know takes part in the IWSG bloghop, but I'll post about it soon just incase!

I'm always happy to share this group with fellow writers. We need each other. And there have been many instances where a comment left on my blog made me feel worlds better about my writing. That's one reason why I continue to blog.

It was a comment on someone's blog that finally got me to join IWSG. "You doubt because you care." Those five words gave voice to a fear I didn't know I had and helped release that fear and send it on its way.

I do link my IWSG posts in the other writer-related groups I'm in.

Doreen McGettigan said...

I link my posts as well but I will do more personalized invitations.
All of the posts help me and that is the honest truth!

I have written about IWSG on my Facebook author page. I have got a lot of encouragement, I've blogged about some of my problems as a writer with Asperger Syndrome and a number of people have had supportive things to say. I almost didn't manage to get anything written today but I wrote the IWSG post just now and wrote a couple comments on blogs, not as many as I wanted to, though.

There have been so many helpful posts and encouragments, so many great reminders that say it's okay to be a little crazy because we're writers and we're in it together.

The support here is really amazing!

I'm helped every single time a IWSG post goes up and I read about the challenges other writers are facing. Very often I'm dealing with the same problems but I thought I was the only one...

Starting now, I'm adding a link to this site on my IWSG posts so my followers can come here directly! :-)

The challenge doesn't sound too difficult. I'm on board.

Thanks everyone for spreading the word! And your stories of encouragement. I never imagined this group becoming what it is, but it's a total blessing.

I don't desperately need support or encouragement. I have, I think, a healthy balance. Just working discreetly in the background, with little fanfare, has given me much satisfaction.

Yes, I do go and interact on Facebook with your group. It's my ironic way of being there for others.

All the best to you and the group.

I've invited a few newbie IWSG'ers to sign up for Facebook. I think 2 of them have done so.

I always get a boost from everyone's IWSG posts. Appreciate the support of other writers. :)

I can't remember one specific post, but I get something I need each time. Sometimes it seems like I'm just thinking aloud to get my insecurities off my chest, and then I find encouragement to keep going like Ken wanting to read my next chapter. The new version is still in my head...and now I have reason to strengthen it and not let it fade away.

I think I'll email my critique group about joining IWSG. Can't hurt.
