Happy Holidays From IWSG

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and NEW YEAR

From the Insecure Writer's Support Group

(We'll be back for IWSG Day on January 3rd.)

It has been awhile since I have celebrated Christmas, as all my family has passed, and I have just a few cousins all out of state from where I live.

If you are spending the holidays alone. Count your blessing because they are are there if you look for them.

Journal all the reasons you are grateful. Read that book you have been dying to read, or spend time writing on your novel.

Call a friend even if you cannot go to them, chat with them on the phone or zoom. And order a your favorite food for delivery or groceries and fix it yourself.

And if you are blessed to be able to celebrate big with your family, remember the SHUTINS that can't get out, call them or go by to visit. Also remember to tell and show your loved one how much they mean to you.

I will leave you with my favorite quote of all time. I have tried to live by these words from the first time I ever saw this movie. What a way to be remembered--handing out hope to others, without hope we are nothing, with hope we can achieve anything. Life is built on hope. One step at time, one day at a time, and the joy of believing. (One of the most quotable movies of all time IMO :) )

"You have a gift, Postman. You give out hope like it was candy in your pocket."

Merry Christmas

Every year, adults try to beat the kid-friendly-free-toy system and send their wish lists to Santa. This year has been no different. These letters were caught in Santa’s spam filter and he forwarded them to me for investigation.
Anyone recognize this group of goons? They call themselves writers. I call them at large.

Sincerely,

Christmas Wishes from the IWSG Team

2014 has been a great year. We saw the IWSG group celebrate our third anniversary, this website saw its first anniversary helping writers across the globe, and the Facebook group has grown to 1790 members, plus the Critique Circle is taking off as well. On top of all that, we also pooled together and released the IWSG Guide to Publishing and Beyond, a free resource for anyone to download.

So, from the IWSG Team, we'd like to thank you for your support and to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and productive New Year. May your writing dreams come true and your inspiration and motivation always flow.

We will return here on January 5th and our first IWSG post day will be Wednesday 7th

What do you do over the Christmas season that's not so traditional?
I always... watch Die Hard (best Christmas movie ever), play poker with the family (with one and two cent pieces that go back into the bottle until next year), and eat far too much seafood (the joys of Christmas in Australia). No writing gets done. But I'm okay with that. I view Christmas as a great recharging time.
