Writing Resources V - Verbix

Welcome to the Insecure Writer’s Support Group website! Our A to Z Challenge theme – Resources!

I know you're going to think Verbix is a really cool resource because it's a web-based tool that shows you how to conjugate verbs. You simply plug in the infinitive (base/root) word and Verbix will give you everything from present tense to future perfect tense – and don't forget all the other tenses in between.

See why I think it's a cool tool? And best of all, it's free!

Writing Resources - N - NaNoWriMo

Strictly speaking, Nanowrimo isn't a resource, but since it has helped millions of writers the world over, it has earned its place as an icon in the world of scribes.

Writers over the globe anticipate National Novel Writing Month (November each year) which is when they can cast aside their inhibition and lock up their internal editor while writing to their heart's content.

The aim is to write 50,000 words in 30 days and while many do not have a complete novel at the end of November, a vast amount of writers go on to polish and publish their NaNo novels in the following months.

Nanowrimo is so immensely popular, it has spawned CampNaNoWriMo (that's where you write a novel in a month) and A Young Writer's Programme. In 2015, over a billion words were written during NaNowrimo.

If you haven't yet tried it, pop on over to the site and see if it may possibly be your big adventure in 2016.

A to Z Challenge - G is for

G is for goal

*The goal to write, write, write*

You aren't a writer because you like things simple.

You aren't a writer because you love rejections.

You're a writer because no matter how tough it gets, you've got a goal.  The goal to write that book inside your head, the one driving you. Why? Because your goal is what you live for.

Even if your current WIP is tougher to write than you thought, and taking a lot longer to finish than you expected, you and I both know, you were born to write. It's why you feel most alive when you're writing.

Sure you love your family and friends. But you're a writer, and as a writer, you don't have to explain to the rest of us (writers) what writing feels like. You don't have to explain how painful that last rejection letter was. Or that 2 star review. All you have to do is keeping working on your goal

Write.

The stuff life throws at you in between is what Insecure Writer's Support Group on the first Wednesday of every month is for.

Happy Writing!

W is for Weaving

Wherever we are in our writing journey, we storyweavers are wannabes. The unpublished writer’s greatest desire is to be published and the published writer dreams of being a bestseller and having his/her work duly recognized.

Yes, I too would love to be a bestselling writer, but I also want people to recognize me as a good storyteller, one who leaves the reader with something to think about after the story is finished.

But before publication, we writers do our fair share of weaving. It’s not easy to take character, mood, plot, point-of-view, setting, theme and combine these into something that becomes a spellbinding tale. We have to take each strand, apply our knowledge and individual style, and then plait them together in such a way that our readers will think it worth their while to take a 100-300 page journey with us.

What dreams do you have for your writing career? Are you gathering the necessary tools that will ensure you can weave your stories together seamlessly?

Hop on over to our IWSG Facebook page and share the love and any special news you have on your writing journey.
