A to Z Challenge - Writing Inspiration - Understanding
Understanding that critique partners and editors are only trying to make the manuscript better.
Understanding that rejection letters aren’t personal, they’re business.
Understanding that not everyone will be interested in our book.
Will we fare better if we understand those things? You bet! And then they won’t sideline us permanently.

i read somewhere that 'lust for life' was rejected by 17 publishers and then it turned out to be a best-seller, why did earlier publishers find no merit in it?
Sometimes our egos hurt and we forget this. But it's so important to remember how true it is. Great post!
IB, it's all in personal tastes, and those other publishers just didn't connect with it.
Christine, we just have to take our egos off the line.
Understand and have a good attitude.
All good things to understand. I'd add "understand that reviews are a person's opinion of the book and not the author."

I focus on understanding these things right after I throw the vase out the window. :-)
Hi Diane - understanding for all circumstances is an essential .. and then quietude while you get through it ... Cheers Hilary
Yes, it's great to understand these things. But sometimes we need to have a little hissy fit to get to that understanding. It also helps to have a good friend, preferably another writer, to confide our feelings. When I do these things, I can move through disappointment and frustration much faster.
"Understanding" is very important
How we "perceive" a thing is often much worse than the actual "issue"
... Have a pleasant weekend....
Good points and why it's so important to network with others who help you figure it all out.
I've appreciate my personal editor very much as I slog through the challenge this year.
Yep, can't take everything personally
Everyone has a different perspective on things. Stay positive and never get discouraged. It works for me.
only if you understand, then you know the reasons and issues is reduced.
Dear Lady Linda...
... To view "issues" from other "points of View".. Not just your own "Emotional" views on the details of the actual circumstances....
I enjoyed this post. I've never heard of this group but it looks as if I need to follow or maybe join you all!
I hope you're enjoying the A to Z challenge as much as I am!

It's taken me just over 60 years to understand why things happen, and I'm only just making sense of it. Becomes easier in a supportive group so thanks.
I completely agree with this post. Understanding is so important.
My latest post for the Blogging A to Z Challenge.
... getting into that mindset of "understanding" is the way to go...
The tribulations of writers and how we take it. Our attitudes matter a lot.
Understanding is certainly is key if we are to survive and succeed in our writing journey...
